Our Expectations & Promise

We do not ask potential students to audition to secure a place at our Saturday School but we absolutely do require commitment, enthusiasm, a passion for the performing arts and the desire to become a confident and versatile performer. Once taking part in our classes, each student is treated equally because at Take Flight we believe that all children and young people should get the opportunity to truly soar!

Several Take Flight Academy students have entered the industry, working as professional child actors in musicals, plays, on television and in adverts.

The academic year at Saturday School

Autumn Term - Technical Term

This term each class focuses on the “technique” of each discipline.

All students study three disciplines; SINGING, ACTING and DANCING, practicing and honing the “triple threat” skills required for Musical Theatre performance. We offer TWO dance classes DANCE PERFORMANCE (for dance choreography) and DANCE TECHNIQUE (for core strength and dance technique). Each class provides the opportunity for students to explore their “triple threat” technique, without the pressure of preparing for a big performance.

This term only, we offer small group singing lessons with a guest industry professional, to help students move forward with their vocal skill and technique. This is in addition to the group singing class.

Spring Term - Filming Term

This term the students work towards a song and dance routine which is filmed in a music style video.

This is an extremely exciting and fun term for all involved!! Not to mention the incredible experience each student receives as they work alongside a professional filming team, culminating in a music video style, video of our song and dance numbers. Rehearsals for this take place in the Dance Choreography and Singing classes. Our Acting and Dance Technique classes continue working on technique.

Summer Term - Show Term

This term we work towards our end of year Showcase.

Our Showcase is held every year at the Michael Croft Theatre at Alleyns School in East Dulwich and is a chance for all our students to put into practice all the skills they have learned during their time with us.

We pride ourselves in making sure that all our students get the chance to “shine” in the show as they rehearse and perform scripts, songs and dance routines based on popular West End & Broadway Musicals, culminating in a live Showcase for family and friends.

Several Take Flight Academy students have entered the industry, working as professional child actors in musicals, plays, on television and in adverts.
